The underfloor heating solution is installed under your floor, just as the name suggests. However, there are two types of underfloor heating systems for you to choose from: wet and dry. The dry underfloor heating system uses an electric heating cable, the wet system uses hot water pumped through pipes, and an alternative option is to add piped underfloor heating to keep your home warm.
The water-based system can be hooked up to your central heating system and is cheaper to run as it’s more efficient. However, it’s easier to build it into a new building or extension due to the pipework and boiler capacity. We suggest that you ensure your boiler can handle the extra load. The dry system, while less efficient, is better for renovations or existing builds as it can be installed separately. Dry underfloor heating is popular for smaller areas, like bathrooms, especially when combined with a timer to make it less expensive to run.
