1. What is floor refinishing, and why is it necessary?

Floor refinishing is the process of restoring the surface of wooden floors by sanding down imperfections, removing old finishes, and applying a fresh coat of polish or sealant. It revitalises the floor, removes signs of wear, and protects it from future damage, prolonging its lifespan.

2. How do I know if my floors need refinishing?

If your wooden floors have visible scratches, dullness, or stains, or if water no longer beads on the surface, it’s time for refinishing. Regular refinishing ensures your floors stay durable and appealing.

3. How much does floor refinishing cost in Ireland?

The cost of floor refinishing in Ireland varies based on the size of your space, the condition of the floors, and the type of finish required. On average, expect to pay between €20-€35 per square metre. Get a quote from a trusted professional to understand your specific costs.

4. How long does the floor refinishing process take?

Typically, floor refinishing takes 2-5 days depending on the size of the area, the number of coats applied, and drying time between coats. Our experts at YourPro ensure timely and efficient service to minimise disruption.

5. Can I stay at home while my floors are being refinished?

It’s recommended to avoid the areas being refinished due to equipment noise, dust, and drying finishes, which can take a few days to set properly.

6. Are your floor refinishing services eco-friendly?

Yes, our professionals use eco-friendly finishes and low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) materials wherever possible, ensuring a healthier environment for you and your family.

7. What types of flooring can be refinished?

Generally, hardwood flooring is best suited for refinishing. Certain engineered wood floors can also be refinished depending on the thickness of the top wood layer. Laminate and vinyl cannot be refinished but may need replacement.

8. Do you provide guarantees for floor refinishing work?

Absolutely! At YourPro, our tradespeople offer a satisfaction guarantee. You’re also protected with up to €10,000 in refunds in the rare case anything goes wrong.

9. How do I maintain my refinished floors?

To keep refinished floors in great condition, clean using a dust mop or vacuum and ensure spills are cleaned immediately. Avoid using harsh chemicals and always use furniture pads to prevent scratches.

10. How can I book a floor refinishing service with YourPro?
